Our Story

The orchestra was formed in 2021, under the baton of its Artistic Director and Conductor, Derek Holland. Its players comprise professional musicians, retired professional musicians, semi- professional musicians and highly gifted amateurs (many having trained professionally before their careers took different directions).

The aim of the orchestra is to perform well known, as well as lesser known, works to the highest standard, and to introduce audiences to new music as well as enabling them to enjoy listening to more familiar repertoire.

In contrast to most other orchestras, soloists are drawn mainly from within the orchestra to perform concertos, complemented by occasional guest artists appearing by invitation as programming demands.

Alba Sinfonia's concerts are mainly held at Oakwood Baptist Church in Merrivale, London N14 4TE and range from smaller chamber to larger orchestral performances.
